First Time at Meat Moot Seattle? How Ordering by the Pound Works

Never ordered smoked meat by the pound? Here is exactly how a meal at Meat Moot Seattle works, how much to order per person and what comes with every cut.

Smoked halal brisket on a carving board with sauces and salads at Meat Moot Seattle

Meat Moot doesn’t work like a typical sit-down restaurant, and that’s half the fun. There’s no plated entrée and no guessing what “a portion” means. You choose your meat, watch it weighed and carved, and share it at the table. Here’s what to expect on your first visit to our South Lake Union smokehouse.

1. Choose your cut at the carving counter

Every meat on the menu is halal and smoked in-house over wood. You can pick one cut or mix several:

2. Tell us how much you’d like

Prices are per pound, and you can order in any amount. As a rule of thumb:

Appetite Per person
Light lunch ¼ – ½ lb
Regular dinner ½ lb
Big appetite or tasting several cuts ¾ lb

Not sure? Our carvers do this all day. Tell them how many people are eating and they’ll help you build the board.

3. Watch it weighed and carved

Your meat is weighed in front of you and carved to order, so you see exactly what you’re paying for. Then the show begins. Our carvers finish each board with a few flourishes worth filming.

4. Sit down — everything else is included

Every pound arrives with unlimited house-made sauces (chimichurri, honey mustard, dynamite, BBQ, hot sauce, honey, mushroom and smoky green garlic), fresh salads and sides like Meat Moot Special Rice, mashed potato and mixed pickles, plus unlimited mineral water and soft drinks. No add-ons, no upsell.

Tip: come for weekday lunch

Monday to Friday, 12–3pm, you can get a ½ lb lamb shank or beef brisket for $23.99. It’s the easiest way to try Meat Moot on a lunch break from the South Lake Union offices.
